Central Illinois
As in vitro fertilization has become more widely used as a method of conceptions over the past three decades, clinics have opened around the country to help women conceive. Sher Institutes operates a fertility clinic in Peoria which is considered one of the premier facilities in Central Illinois. Utilizing technology and procedures researched and implemented in clinical practice since the 1980’s, Sher Institute Peoria is able to bring hope to couples and single women who believed there was none before.
The basics of the procedure itself involve stimulating the ovaries to produce multiple eggs through fertility medications. The eggs are removed from the ovaries, fertilized with "washed" (specially prepared) sperm, cultured in a lab, and transferred into the uterus as embryos for implantation and (ideally) conception. The success rate of the procedure has gone from uncertain in its early years to over fifty percent per cycle on average in quality IVF programs, once eggs are successfully removed from the ovaries.
In addition to their in vitro fertilization Illinois program, the Sher Institute in Peoria also offers artificial insemination (IUI) and options for the treatment of male infertility. It’s not always a problem with the woman which leads to an inability to conceive. In more cases than most couples are aware, it is actually a problem with the male’s sperm that is causing the conception problem. There are proven ways to correct male infertility and the Sher Institute makes them available to patients in their Illinois clinic.
There are many reasons why couples are not able to have children. They include various uterine, tubal, and hormonal issues, which are key components in the reproduction process, as well as other conditions like Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. The human body is a delicate machine. When one of the systems inside that machine is not working properly it can have a ripple effect on the rest of the body. Our job at Sher Institutes is to find out what the problem is and find a way to correct it.
If you live in Central Illinois and are having difficulties with conceiving a child, please schedule a consultation with us to discuss your case in detail.
New Jersey Fertility Clinic
After thirty years of IVF treatments worldwide, most women are aware that in vitro is an option for infertility. The science of IVF has been refined to a point where every step in the process has a set procedure attached to it and results can be accurately measured at any stage. It begins with a preparation process to bring the ovaries to an “at-rest” state, then controlled hyper-stimulation of the ovary, egg retrieval, sperm processing, and finally fertilization followed by embryo selection and transfer. The concept is the same as it was when IVF was first introduced back in 1978. What has changed is the technology used to achieve successful conception.
Two of the most recent additions to the procedure are the use of birth control pills in the preparation step and Viagra to help thicken the uterine lining. These have both proven to be effective techniques for the stages of IVF they are being used for. The determining factors for dose measurement typically have to do with the age of the subject attempting IVF. Our women fertility New Jersey clinic typically puts younger women on birth control for seven to twenty one days while middle aged or older women might need to use BCP for two to three months before stimulation is attempted.
The egg retrieval portion of the process is done with a needle while under anesthesia using modern ultra-sound equipment to “see" the fluid-filled follicles in the ovary that contain eggs. It’s virtually painless, and is considered the critical junction in the success or failure of in vitro fertilization. You’ll still need to go through sperm processing and embryo transfer back into the uterus, but at Sher Institutes, our technology and expertise make those steps fairly routine. Once we retrieve healthy eggs, your chances of conception increase dramatically.
Once the eggs have been fertilized and we select embryos to transfer back into the uterus, you will have the option of freezing the remaining embryos for a subsequent frozen embryo transfer. The frozen embryos available. With the freezing procedure we have available, over ninety percent of human embryos survive for later use.
