The Koehler Family: National Infertility Awareness
The Koehler’s get 2 babies after a long journey
As part of National Infertility Awareness Week 2015, Sher Fertility asked for stories from those that have overcome infertility, as well as those still struggling through the fight. Here is a story shared by the Koehler Family:
“I wanted to send a quick note about a very long journey that ended with two beautiful children.
Over the past 8 years, I have been pregnant 15 times. 13 of those pregnancies ended in miscarriage. And by the grace of God and with the help of the most brilliant doctors at Sher Fertility New York, two of those ended with beautiful babies.
I have people tell me on a daily basis that we should write a book about our story. And I hope one day that I will be able to pass on my story of tragic loss, daily heartache and finally happiness.
I had a motto that I said each day of the past 8 years. It’s a quote from Winston Churchill – “Never, never, never give up”. All the odds were stacked against me but I never once gave up my dream of carrying our children. That dream finally came true.
This has been the craziest roller ride of my life. The things I have done and the extremes I have gone through to get pregnant and keep my pregnancies leave people stunned and speechless. The world of infertility is hell. I hope my story can help some people, even if it’s just one person. Those people that have been told this is the “end of the line” and that it’s time to give up.
My doctors have called me a warrior. And now 3 weeks after the birth of my 2nd child, I finally believe them.”
