In Vitro Fertilization – IVF Treatment / IVF Procedure

In Vitro Fertilization – IVF Treatment / IVF Procedure
(Click for an overview of our IVF packages)

An IVF procedure or “cycle” at SIRM is centered around our core philosophy that each and every patient is unique and should have a custom-tailored approach to her IVF treatment.  Accordingly, we do an in-depth review of each patient’s medical and reproductive history, and create a customized protocol based on her individual needs.  Above all, our goal is to empower each patient with the information she needs to make informed decisions about in vitro fertilization / embryo transfer in conjunction with her SIRM physician.

An IVF procedure at SIRM involves the following steps:

  1. Preparing for Controlled Ovarian Hyperstimulation (COH)
  2. Undergoing Controlled Ovarian Hyperstimulation
  3. Egg Retrieval
  4. Sperm Processing
  5. Fertilization of Eggs in the Laboratory
  6. Selecting the Best Embryos for Transfer
  7. Embryo Transfer
  8. (Optional) Cryopreservation (Freezing) of Remaining Embryos

Procreation – and with it the ability to achieve immortality by living on through one’s children – is one of the most insatiable human needs. AUTISM: DOES IVF TREATMENT INCREASE THE INCIDENCE?

At a recent meeting of the International Society for Autism Research (INSAR) on Thursday, May 20, 2010, a few papers were presented suggesting that in vitro fertilization is associated with an increased risk of autism in offspring. The world wide alarm that this evoked amongst infertile couples is understandable and is reminiscent of a similar … Read more

    Endometriosis and Infertility: Common Misconceptions

Endometriosis is one of the most common conditions associated with infertility. I say “associated with” rather than “causing” infertility because in many cases, it can be an ( added) contributing factor to another underlying issue that is the root cause of a woman’s infertility. Many times, women are given an oversimplified picture of the correlation … Read more
