Making IVF Cost Affordable
Financing Options and Discounted Fertility Treatment Cost Plans

Making IVF Cost Affordable

Given the relative absence of insurance reimbursement for in vitro fertilization costs(IVF), the Sher Fertility Institutes strive to make IVF more affordable to everyone that needs it.  To this end, we have developed a number of IVF cost package plans and financing options to bring fertility treatment within reach of all of our patients.  The various options are outlined briefly below.  Contact your nearest SIRM office for more information on any of the plans or options listed below.

The SIRM “Giving Back” Initiative

We understand that the high cost of fertility treatment and the lack of insurance coverage for IVF puts it out of reach for many deserving couples. For many years, we have been donating IVF treatment to deserving couples directly, or through participation in programs that offer free or discounted treatment. Through our “Giving Back” program, we have donated free IVF treatment to 27 couples, with more planned through the rest of the year. We also participate in the INCIID.org IVF scholarship program with approximately 20 IVF donations every year. Our newest initiative – Fertility Rescue – provides free egg freezing to cancer patients. For more information on the Sher Institute Giving Back program, click HERE.

Micro IVF

Available to a select segment of the patient population, Micro IVF is a lower stimulation IVF cycle priced at about 60% of our conventional Single Cycle Plan.  It is available to women under 36 years of age, with regular ovulation, day-3 FSH of less than 9, and no significant male factor issues. Click for more info on Micro-IVF

Single Cycle Plan

This plan is comprised of a single IVF treatment cycle including blood draws, ultrasound monitoring, egg retrieval, ICSI fertilization, embryo transfer, and 2 beta hCG pregnancy tests.

Two Cycle Plan

This plan offers up to 2 cycles of IVF (including any frozen embryo transfers associated with those cycles) for a single fee, substantially less than 2 individual IVF cycles. This is considered a shared-risk IVF plan, because we assume the financial risk if you don’t have a baby on the first attempt. We perform the second cycle for what amounts to a 50% discount.

Three Cycle Plan

This plan offers up to 3 cycles of IVF (including any frozen embryo transfers associated with those cycles) for a single fee, substantially less than 3 individual IVF cycles. Like the Two Cycle Plan, this is considered a shared-risk IVF plan for the same reasons. If you don’t have a baby after the first 2 cycles, we’re providing our services on the third cycle at essentially no cost to you.

The Access Plan

To help make IVF costs more affordable,  SIRM offers a discounted package price payment plan called the Access Plan that is available to couples/individuals in the following categories:
- Military Personnel
- Full Time Teachers
- “First Responders” (Fire, Police, Ambulance, Medical)

- Patients/couples with an annual household income <$55k/yr

Insurance Reimbursement

Insurance companies usually do not regard IVF/embryo transfers (ET) as a reimbursable medical procedure. A few states have mandated partial or complete coverage for infertility treatments. Other states are considering similar legislation. Often, insurance companies will cover certain diagnostic or preparatory treatments.  SIRM participates with most insurance carriers and our staff can help you coordinate and maximize your benefits.  Contact your local SIRM office for a list of participating providers.

Medical Financing

You may qualify for medical financing available at reasonable rates through third party financing organizations.  Medical financing allows payments to be made over a number of years.  The following companies are currently working with us to provide IVF financing:

www.MedLoanFinance.com - Offers loans up to $50,000 with up to 21 months no-interest option for qualified applicants.  Apply on their website.

MedicalFinancing.com - Loans up to $30,000 with no-interest options (up to 12 mos.) available for qualified applicants.

This program offers free egg freezing at a Sher Fertility clinic for patients who are facing radiation or chemotherapy that can compromise their fertility. CGH Embryo Selection Could Open the Door to IVF Insurance Coverage

Most couples experiencing infertility are willing to make enormous sacrifices to have a baby. Why then, with IVF being at least 3 times more likely to succeed than any other infertility treatment, do less 10% of couples in the U.S for whom IVF is needed currently receive such treatment annually? Is Being Overweight Detrimental to IVF Outcome?

There is little doubt that the prevalence of obesity in Western society is increasing and that this is having a significant influence on the reproductive performance of women who are trying to have a baby. IVF Success: What’s Age Got to Do With It?

Most women seem to understand instinctively that fertility declines with age. The “why” of it is generally less clear. Tubal Reversal vs. IVF: Which is More Successful?

This is a question I get quite often. With IVF, the birth rate is 10-15 times higher when performed in an IVF program of excellence. It follows that for women in whom the … Read more
