I'd love to hear your perspective on supplements for improving egg quality. There are so many websites which claim supplements like CO Q10, Paba, Vitex, Vitamin D, N-Acetyl Cysteine, Royal Jelly, DHEA, Melatonin, Omega-3 Purified Fish Oil, L-argenine….etc. Is there any research to advocate the use of any of these supplments or are these being driven by all old wive's tails and anecdotal stories?
I noticed for my IVF cycle, my RE had me on Dexamethasone in addition to CO Q10 and N-Acetyl Cysteine. Upon completion of egg retrieval, I was instructed to take Medrol for several days. After reviewing a few infertility boards, I noticed many women were reporting taking the same medications/supplments by their REs.
Is there any medical studies to advocate the use of any of these medications/supplments?
Great idea – thanks for your input!

On top of supplements to help egg quality (or hurt) is there a diet or certain foods that are more helpful than others?
Why hirsutism is present in patients with our without PCOS and how to manage it while trying to conceive.
Hi Dr Sher, I will be doing the full colarado next month with treatment for NK cells. Just wondering if you could do a post about the different types of treatment and the benefits disadvantages of each one. I am in Australia so we can't do IVIG and we are going with the intrallipids. Thanks!
I would be interested to hear your thoughts on diet and infertility, specifically soy and addressing other diet components some have deemed counterproductive to fertility (fat free dairy?). I would also be interested to hear how much you think psychological factors affect ivf success rates and in what context(s).
Thank you for your suggestions!
I would like to hear your views on miscarriage (especially first trimester) after IVF.
After IVF treatment, we are normally advised to "take it easy" for the first 12 weeks, while women who falls pregnant naturally, goes to the gym well into their 2nd and 3rd trimesters. What is your opinion on this?
I had a miscarriage of one twin at 4 weeks and the second at 6 weeks. What are my chances of going through the same thing again? (The test result stated "no chromosomal abnormalities")
I would really appreciate a well-written opinion on this, as I keep blaming myself, my doctor and the lab in turn.
Hi Macy,
This is a good topic and a frequent question. Dr. Jeffrey Fisch has written an insightful post on this topic on the Sher Institute blog that I would recommend in the interim:

Hi Dr Sher,
Would be interested in your thoughts on holistic and lifestyle support during IVF cycle. Our FS suggests that alternative herbal / acupuncture / naturopathic etc treatments do not have any positive effect on the successful outcome of a cycle.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks
Simply on the basis of a process of elimination…this loss is most likely to have been an implantation problem. possibly (likely) immunologic in origin. Please read elsewhere on this site relating to "Immunologic Implantation Dysfunction" and then if you want a detailed discussion, call 702-699-7437 and set up a free medical telephone consultation by phone with me.

I have addressed stess and IVF outcome as well as the use of dietary supplements elsewhere on this site.
Thanks!

This information can be found in the 2 articles I posted on May 10th and May 16th, 2011 respectively.
Good luck!

I have already commented on lifestyle/stress and IVF outcome. I will be happy to write on acupuncture, naturopathic approaches etc.
Thanks for the suggestion.

What about implantation cramping (7DPO) that turns to extreme uterine (definitely uterine, not ovarian or anything else) pain 10DPO? Then a failed cycle? (I had one very faint positive test 8DPO after a neg. 7DPO, but other tests from that package were clearly invalid.) The last stimmed cycle definitely had positives on 9 and 10DPO (after 3 days of negatives post-trigger) that then disappeared, too. I also had implantation cramping that cycle.
I have had 2 children in 9 year naturally and am 31. I had 4 miscarriages prior to these–pregnancies 2, 3, 4, and 6. So I know what implantation cramping is, and for me, it's very distinct.
